Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Dennis Idahosa, has disclosed that Senator Adams Oshiomhole opposed the appointment of his son as the state’s health commissioner.

Idahosa’s comments suggest underlying tensions and differing perspectives on leadership roles, particularly in the health sector, which is critical for the state’s development.

Idahosa made this revelation during an interview with Channels Television on Tuesday, November 20.

In his remarks, he elaborated on the reasons behind Oshiomhole’s opposition, providing insights into the political intricacies and personal dynamics that influence key appointments within the state’s government.

The deputy governor said, “Senator Adams Oshiomhole is a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and his son, like any other individual, has his destiny.

“Oshiomohloe’s son is a seasoned medical doctor, He studied here in Nigeria and went to the United States to also study.

“He has everything it takes to be in the cabinet. Because he is the son of someone doesn’t forbid him from occupying a seat that he has the competence to chair.

“In short, Adams went against it. The father does not play any role or influence on it. For us, we have made up our minds. It was the sole decision of Mr Governor.”

He also disclosed that Cyril is a seasoned medical doctor who has the capabilities to chair the Ministry of Health, and as such should not be denied such a privilege.

Recall that weeks after his inauguration as the governor of the state, Governor Monday Okpebholo appointed Dr Oshiomhole as Commissioner for Health.
