FRSC Recovers N8.6 Million at Road Crash Scene in Kaduna
Kaduna, Oct. 1, 2024 (TheGavel) – The Kaduna State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recovered N8.6 million at the scene of a road crash along the Zaria-Funtua highway. The Sector Commander, Mr. Kabir Nadabo, confirmed the recovery and details of the accident in a statement to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Kaduna.
According to Nadabo, the crash occurred at around 7:00 PM on Monday at Area G, Samaru, involving a Nigerian Army Ford pickup truck with registration number FST 134 FX and a red Toyota Corolla with registration number KTN 316 HK. The Ford pickup was heading towards Funtua when the Toyota Corolla, reportedly traveling at high speed towards Zaria, lost control and collided with the Army vehicle.
Preliminary investigations by the FRSC revealed that speeding and loss of control were the primary causes of the crash. Nadabo stated, “A rescue team from Zebra 55 Shika, led by the Zebra Head, conducted the rescue operation and ensured the safety of all involved.”
The crash involved three individuals, two of whom sustained varying degrees of injury, while one person escaped unharmed. The injured were swiftly transported to Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital in Shika for further medical attention.
During the rescue operation, FRSC officials discovered a sum of N8.6 million in cash at the scene, belonging to the owner of the Toyota Corolla. The Sector Commander assured that the money would be returned to its rightful owner once he fully recovers. “In addition to the rescue conducted, a sum of N8.6 million was recovered at the scene. The entire amount belongs to the owner of the red Toyota Corolla, and arrangements are being made to hand over the money once he is well enough,” Nadabo said.
Mr. Nadabo emphasized the importance of road safety and urged motorists to cooperate with the FRSC in reducing road traffic accidents in the state. He also acknowledged the support of the Kaduna State Government and commended the media for their continued collaboration in promoting road safety awareness.
The Sector Commander further appealed to drivers, especially those traveling through townships and highways, to adopt safe driving practices and adhere to speed limits. “The FRSC will continue to engage critical stakeholders in advocating for and creating more awareness on road safety. We urge all road users to partner with us in ensuring safer roads across the state,” Nadabo concluded. (NAN)
