CAS Presents Cheques to 13 Beneficiaries of NAF Accident Insurance Policy

Abuja, Oct. 7, 2024 (TheGavel) – The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has presented cheques to the beneficiaries of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy, signaling the official activation of the policy. The presentation, which took place on Monday, marked a key welfare initiative under Abubakar’s Command Philosophy of “Maintaining a Highly Motivated Force by Enhancing Welfare and Infrastructural Renewal.”

Abubakar emphasized that the human element is central to any organization’s success and must be supported through comprehensive welfare programs. He stated that recognition, compensation, and growth opportunities are essential to motivate personnel to make personal sacrifices for the call of duty.

The insurance policy provides compensation for bodily injuries, temporary or permanent disabilities, and death. It also covers medical expenses from accidents and offers salary reimbursement while personnel are hospitalized. The policy complements existing insurance schemes by covering financial gaps not addressed by other policies.

“The cheques presented today cannot undo the losses or reverse the disabilities, but they offer comfort and reassurance that NAF will always stand by its personnel and their families,” Abubakar said. He paid tribute to the fallen heroes and wounded personnel, promising continuous support to their families.

Abubakar also celebrated Flying Officer David Sangokoya, the first African cadet to win the prestigious International Cadet Sword of Honour from the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, highlighting the excellence within the NAF.

Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Idi Sani, NAF Chief of Administration, noted the service’s efforts in providing accommodation, improving schools and hospitals, and ensuring that personnel, both serving and retired, are adequately covered. The Group Personal Accident Insurance Policy (GPAIP) serves as an additional incentive for personnel affected by accidents, offering financial compensation for injuries, death, or disabilities.

Mr. Yusuf Yakubu, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to NAF for supporting the families of those who lost their lives in service. He commended the CAS for going beyond rhetoric to prioritize and strategically execute welfare initiatives for personnel. (NAN)
