143,500 vulnerable residents to receive free healthcare in Jigawa
Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has launched a free basic healthcare initiative aimed at providing services to vulnerable populations across the state.
During the flag-off ceremony at the government house in Dutse, Governor Namadi reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services, ensuring that all vulnerable individuals have access to national healthcare standards.
“The government will continue to provide free healthcare services, gradually reaching every individual in the state,” Governor Namadi said, noting that 143,500 vulnerable individuals are expected to benefit from the programme.
He said improvements to healthcare infrastructure and service delivery would benefit not only the vulnerable populations but also all residents of Jigawa.

Dr Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa, the state’s Commissioner for Health, outlined the programme’s structure, stating that 500 people per political ward had already been enrolled, bringing the total number of beneficiaries to 143,500.
The World Health Organization (WHO) representative, Dr Walter Kazadi Mulombo, praised the Jigawa government’s efforts to improve healthcare access, expressing WHO’s continued support in helping the state achieve its healthcare goals.
