Nigeria @64: “There’s no gain without pain – Abiodun tells Nigeria

As the country celebrates her 64th year of independence anniversary, the Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun has sued for peace, patience and perseverance of Nigerians saying “There is no pain without gain.”

Abiodun while admitting that the policies of the Tinubu-led administration are taking a toll on Nigerians assured of a positive end.

The governor stated this at the anniversary celebration held at the arcade ground of the governor’s office in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The state helmsman asserted that the 64-year journey of Nigeria as a nation has achieved numerous milestones and triumphed over countless obstacles.

He said,“ This day holds immense significance in our collective history as it reminds us of the bravery, sacrifices, and undying hope our founding fathers held when they envisioned a free, united, and prosperous Nigeria.

“ In our 64-year journey as a nation, we have achieved numerous milestones. Nigeria continues to be a symbol of strength, unity, and hope for the African continent. It is essential to remember that our resilience as a people has always been greater than our challenges.

“ While independence is a monumental achievement, we must also confront the present realities. Today, Nigeria faces turbulent economic times. Global economic pressures, coupled with domestic challenges, have placed significant strain on our resources. Rising inflation, unemployment, and the cost of living have impacted the lives of many, creating anxiety about the future. These challenges are real and urgent, requiring immediate and sustained action.

“ We are fully aware of the current economic challenges and their impact on our people. Under the leadership of our esteemed President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the federal government has swiftly implemented bold and deliberate measures aimed at repositioning the economy and preventing us from bankruptcy.

“ These initiatives, though necessary, come with some measure of sacrifice. As the saying goes, “There is no gain without some pain,” we must persevere, for there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Speaking on the October 1 protest, the governor urged Nigerians to engage in constructive discussions rather than aligning with those plotting to destroy the country.

“ Let us not align with those who seek to fuel discord by advocating for protests, violence, and civil disobedience—actions that lead only to vandalism, wanton destruction and possible anarchy. Instead, let us engage constructively and work with the government, knowing that this is an inclusive administration that does not intend to unduly burden its citizens.

Abiodun reiterated that his administration is focused on infrastructure, social welfare, education, youth empowerment, and agriculture, to position the state as an emerging economic powerhouse in Nigeria.
