NFL, Week 3 – Insight: You might as well roll the dice!

After Week 2 there were a total of nine winless teams. Sure, the Baltimore Ravens were rated much more strongly, but in the analysis some candidates were quite high in the panic index: It wasn’t really clear where the victories of the Panthers, Giants, Broncos, Rams or Colts would come from quickly .

On Sunday evening the football world suddenly looked completely different again. Seven 0-2 teams were in action – six of which were victories (what’s going on, Tennessee?). If you go a little deeper and take the bookmakers’ odds into account, the underdog won seven times in 13 games. Completely different conditions and game progressions, of course, but this continues a trend: in Week 2, exactly eight wins out of 16 games went to the underdogs. You might as well roll the dice.

Does this mean that the casinos and online providers have no idea about blowing and blowing? Not at all: especially in the USA, the market is worth billions of dollars, every half point is weighed carefully (to explain: in the Sunday Night Game, most providers rated the Chiefs as exactly 3 points stronger than Atlanta. So on the one hand you could go for the Falcons as the winner, but also on “Falcons +3” and would have won his bet if the Chiefs won by only two points).

Rather, chaos simply continues to react in this still young NFL season. Teams that are rated as stronger than their opponents by at least six points – an actually significant difference in quality – have lost seven of the twelve games so far. These literally unpredictable results are also reflected in the tables: four teams are undefeated, but only three are still without success. By Tuesday morning, that number may have shrunk to one. Have fun predicting playoff spots.

All you can really rely on is that the Chiefs will narrowly win in the end…
