Woman arrested for allegedly stealing 7-day-old baby in Nasarawa
Police in Nasarawa State have detained a middle-aged woman, Khadija Aliyu, for her alleged involvement in the theft of a 7-day-old baby in Keffi, the headquarters of the local government area.
The police spokesperson, Ranham Nansel, in a statement, said the suspect was apprehended on Saturday, September 28, 2024, during a naming ceremony in Keffi LGA.
According to the statement, the suspect, who had been posing as pregnant, attended the ceremony held behind the INEC office in Keffi.
“While the event was in progress, the suspect discreetly entered the residence and took the baby, who was sleeping. She concealed the child beneath a veil and attempted to escape before she was caught,” DSP Nansel said.
