Wike accused of revoking land to bolster Tinubu's 2027 presidential bid
Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), of targeting opposition politicians through land revocations in Abuja.
Frank claims the move is aimed at suppressing potential challengers to President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections.
In a statement on Saturday, December 21, Frank criticised the recent revocation of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) for prominent figures, including former President Muhammadu Buhari, House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
Frank described the action as a “Nollywood script,” alleging it was designed to deflect attention from what he called Wike’s "land-grabbing spree."
“We have intelligence that the revoked C of Os is part of Wike’s strategy to harass and intimidate opposition members who may contest against Tinubu in 2027,” Frank asserted.
He also noted Buhari’s denial of owning the listed property and Abbas’s clarification that he holds no debts to the FCT Administration.
Frank further alleged that Wike’s actions mirror those of his tenure as Rivers State Governor, during which time lands belonging to political opponents were reportedly revoked and demolished.
“What he is doing in FCT is not different from Rivers State. This is vendetta disguised as governance,” he said.
Frank challenged Wike to substantiate claims that the named APC officials owned the revoked lands.
He also accused the minister of using their names to shield criticism of his broader actions targeting vulnerable Nigerians in the FCT.
The controversy continues to fuel debate over Wike’s role in Tinubu’s administration and its implications for the political landscape ahead of 2027.
