TVET Cornerstone Of Our Education Programme
The federal government has said vocational education would unlock the potential of the country’s population and meet the growing demand for a skilled workforce.
The Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, said to achieve a skilled workforce for the country’s labour demand, the government would increase investment in Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET).
Alausa stated this at the ongoing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Board meeting In Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
He noted that the investment in technical and vocational education would stimulate economic growth and empower individuals with essential skills for thriving in a dynamic global economy.
“Investing in TVET is vital for unlocking our population’s potential and addressing the growing demand for skilled labor in the workforce. This investment will not only stimulate economic growth and enhance GDP but also empower individuals with practical skills essential for thriving in the dynamic global economy.
“With Nigeria experiencing rapid population growth and urbanization, the urgency for a skilled workforce to drive industries, innovation, and economic development has never been greater.
“Strengthening TVET programs will equip young Nigerians with meaningful skills, reduce unemployment, and create sustainable pathways to prosperity.
“For these reasons, TVET remains a cornerstone of the Federal Ministry of Education’s strategic roadmap,” Alausa said.
He emphasized that the federal government looks forward to continued collaboration with partners to strengthen, transform education and create opportunities for our youth.
