Senator representing Abia Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Austin Akobundu has congratulated Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her reappointment as Director General of World Trade Organisation (WTO).

In his congratulatory message, Akobundu described Okonjo-Iweala’s reelection without any opposition as “a statement of emphatic confidence reposed in her by stakeholders of the foremost global body,” saying that she has always remained a role model to the younger ones not only in Nigeria but across the globe.

Akobundu further extolled her professional competence and leadership qualities which she also exhibited while serving as Nigeria’s minister of finance and coordinating minister of the economy, and that her consistency over the years has continued to earn her global accolades.

“I trust that she will continue to make Abia Central in particular and Nigeria as a whole proud in all her endeavours and remain a mentor to the young ones. On behalf of the people of Abia Central, I congratulate her once again and wish her the best in all her endeavours,” the statement concluded.
