Senate conducts valedictory session to honor Ifeanyi Ubah
On Tuesday, the Senate conducted a poignant valedictory session to honor the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who served as the representative for Anambra South in the National Assembly.
Esteemed colleagues and dignitaries gathered to pay tribute to his legacy, reflecting on his contributions to legislative initiatives and his commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
The casket containing the remains of the late senator was displayed in state at the foyer of the White House wing, positioned directly in front of the Senate Chamber.
This solemn arrangement allowed senators and other dignitaries to pay their respects in a fitting location, symbolizing the senator’s significant role in the nation’s governance.
The atmosphere was marked by a sense of reverence as attendees reflected on his life and contributions to public service, ensuring that his legacy would be honored by all who passed by.
The day’s order paper featured only one item: “Valedictory Session.”
In a show of respect, Senate President Godswill Akpabio donned traditional Isi-Enyi attire, paired with a matching red cap and dark sunglasses.
During the service, Akpabio began by zeroing in attention to the seat of their former colleague, draped with the Nigerian flag and four symbolic candles.
He noted that the day has been dedicated to the memory of the late Anambra Senator who died on the 26th of July, 2024 at the age of 52.
He further described the late businessman from Otolo, Nnewi North as a visionary with extraordinary empathy for all and a champion for economic empowerment and community development.
Akpabio described Ubah’s death as a huge deficit in the political terrain of the country.
