PDP wins 12 Zamfara LG, awaits results from two LGAs
The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won all chairmanship and councillorship positions in Zamfara State, except in Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas, where results were still pending as of Saturday night.
Announcing the results, Hon. Bala Aliyu Gusau, chairman of the Zamfara State Independent Electoral Commission (ZASIEC), described the election as free, fair, and peaceful. He highlighted that representatives from all contesting political parties were present during the vote count, and no objections were raised about the election’s conduct.
“The election was free, fair, credible, and peaceful. No political party raised any objection over the process,” Gusau stated.
He added that the results for Birnin Magaji and Kaura Namoda LGAs would be announced on Sunday.
Afterward, the winners will receive their certificates of return and be sworn in at the Government House later that day.
Hon. Gusau praised security agencies and stakeholders for their role in ensuring a smooth election process, noting that the commission had received no reports of irregularities.
The PDP’s strong performance in the polls highlights its influence in the state, as political observers eagerly await the final results to determine the outcomes in the remaining LGAs.
