A majority of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) members in the House of Representatives have passed a vote of no confidence in Ali Madaki, the lawmaker representing Dala Federal Constituency.

According to reports, the caucus has also endorsed his removal as the Deputy Minority Leader of the House.

This decision follows Madaki’s public disassociation from the Kwankwasiyya movement, a faction aligned with NNPP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Instead, he pledged allegiance to the party’s founding leader, Boniface Aniebonam.

According to Daily Nigerian, 15 NNPP lawmakers signed the motion for Madaki’s removal, while three lawmakers—Alhassan Rurum (Rano/Kibiya/Bunkure), Abdullahi Sani (Karaye/Rogo), and Madaki himself—opposed it.

In a letter dated Monday and addressed to House Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, the NNPP leadership nominated Tijjani Jobe, representing Dawakin Tofa/Tofa/Rimingado Federal Constituency, to replace Madaki as Deputy Minority Leader.

The letter, signed by NNPP National Chairman Ajuji Ahmed and Secretary Dipo Olayoku, stated, “The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) wishes to extend greetings to you, the leadership, and the entire members of the House of Representatives. We write this letter to forward the name of the Party’s most ranking member, HON TIJJANI ABDULKADIR JOBE, to replace Hon Aliyu Sani Madaki as Deputy Minority Leader of the House.”

The NNPP urged the Speaker to handle the matter expeditiously, highlighting its importance to the party, its caucus, and the House of Representatives.
