1. With 98% of the results of Saturday’s governorship election in Ondo State posted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on its Result Viewing (IREV) portal last night, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa appeared to be coasting home to victory. Figures independently tallied from the IREV portal put Aiyedatiwa, who is the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in an unassailable lead.
2. The ancient city of Kano on Saturday witnessed an extraordinary gathering of top serving and former Nigerian leaders, captains of industry, diplomats, business moguls and high political chieftains for the historic wedding fatiha of Aisha, daughter of Sen. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, and Fahad, son of Katsina business mogul, Dahiru Mangal, in the ancient city of Kano on Saturday.
3. President Bola Tinubu is determined to change the fortunes of Nigeria, regardless of the challenges confronting the country, says Vice-President Kashim Shettima. Shettima said this on Saturday in Abuja at a one-day retreat for presidential aides and heads of units in his office.
4. Former President, Olusegun Obasanjo says Nigeria’s failing status under the reign of President Bola Tinubu is “confirmed and glaringly indicated and manifested for every honest person to see.” He labelled Tinubu as “Baba-go-slow and Emilokan.”
5. President Bola Tinubu will today receive Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, for a State visit at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, revealed this in a statement on Saturday.
6. The Kaduna State Police Command, on Saturday confirmed the arrest of several high-profile kidnappers, cattle rustlers and vandals across the state. In a statement released to newsmen, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mansir Hassan, said operatives of ‘Operation Fushin Kada,’ nabbed six suspected kidnappers, one cattle rustler, five vandals and recovered firearms as well as charms.
7. Four people, including a soldier, were reportedly killed by suspected cultists at North Bank, a suburb of Makurdi, the capital city of Benue State, Friday night. Confirming the incident on Saturday, Chairman of the Vigilante Group known as Operation Shara in the North Bank, Nura Umar, said that four people, including a soldier, were killed in separate attacks.
8. The Senator representing Borno South, Ali Ndume, has advised Daniel Bwala to seek forgiveness from Vice President Kashim Shettima. Ndume, in a statement on Saturday, responding to Bwala’s appointment by President Tinubu, Ndume urged him to work closely with Shettima who is also from the Borno State.
9. The Abuja Division of the Appeal Court has sacked Musiliu Akinsanya popularly known as MC Oluomo from the position of the National President of the National Union of Roads Transport Workers, NURTW. The court also affirmed Tajudeen Ibikunle Baruwa as the authentic President of NURTW.
10. The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, on Saturday, handed over 58 people rescued by the security agencies in joint operations to the Kaduna State Government. Ribadu handed over the victims to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Christopher Musa, who will hand them over to the government
