To the surprise of many, the Seattle Seahawks (3-0) enter the fourth week with an immaculate record and they will have to continue the good streak in a home that has become ferociously hostile in recent campaigns: Ford Field in Detroit.

The stronghold of the Lions (2-1), finalists in the National last season, now stands out as a place where more physical football is king under the tutelage of fiery coach Dan Campbell.

This physicality is also expressed (and especially) on the Lions’ defensive line as Aidan Hutchinson sows terror among the opposing quarterbacks. Again this year, the anchor of the Lions defense already has 6.5 quarterback sacks in just three games. A completely crazy pace which is certainly at the center of the Seahawks’ preparation table in anticipation of their visit to Michigan.

The Seahawks’ success, on the other hand, is no accident.

The shift towards the post-Pete Carroll era has been smooth and the team now has a new identity even if it is still based on excellent defensive play.

Quarterback Geno Smith’s life is made much easier by the hard work done on the other side of the ball.

However, the statistics may be misleading in the case of the Seahawks since the start of the season, the team has faced the following quarterbacks: Skylar Thompson (Miami), Jacoby Brissett (New England) and Bo Nix (Denver) . Not a particularly intimidating skewer.

Jared Goff, at the helm of the Lions’ offense, had the second-best aerial attack last season. As he still looks at the same arsenal in front of him, even though Amon-Ra St-Brown finished the last game pretty banged up, Goff will present the first real test for the new Seahawks this year.

Seattle also showed some difficulty against the ground game and the Lions excel in this department with David Montgomery at goal.

To end the fourth week, a duel at the top which could serve as a taste of the playoffs in the National. Already big stakes this early in the campaign.
