Navy pledges excellence in forensics, investigations
The Chief of Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, on Friday reaffirmed the Nigerian Navy’s commitment to upholding global best practices in forensic and investigative operations to enhance national development.
Ogalla gave the advice during the combined graduation ceremony of three courses: the Advanced Provost Officers Course, the Advanced Detective Investigation Course, and the Outriders Course, held at the Nigerian Navy Provost and Regulating School in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
The CNS represented by Rear Admiral Noel Madugu, emphasised in his speech that the training was designed to enhance the capabilities of the graduating officers and ratings from the Provost and Regulating Department of the Nigerian Navy.
He said that the successful completion of the courses, particularly the newly introduced specialist programs—the Advanced Provost Officers Course and the Advanced Detective Investigation Course—marks the celebrants as pioneering graduate officers and ratings in these fields.

“As pioneers, the Nigerian Navy is pleased with the statutory feat you have attained as the custodians of forensics and specialist investigators in the Service. Our desire is for you to consolidate on what you have learnt in this institution through diligence in the field in order to achieve greater heights,” the CNS said.
Ogalla urged the graduates to demonstrate professionalism by continually improving themselves within their respective units to stay aligned with best practices in forensics and investigative duties.
Earlier, the Commandant of the School, Navy Captain Henry Ejeh, explained that the 10-week training was designed to instill in the students the best practices in law enforcement both within and beyond the military.
He added that a variety of methods, including classroom lectures, practical demonstrations, and training attachments, were employed to achieve the goal.
