Man jailed for attempting to drug patient in Kano hospital

A Kano Shari’a Court sitting in Fagge ‘Yan Alluna of Fagge LGA of Kano State has convicted a young man, Murtala Sa’idu Tudun Murtala for attempting to drug a patient on his sick bed in a hospital.

He was arrested on a visit to one of the health facilities in Kano with hard substances while attempting to drug a patient on admission.

The accused was arraigned by the police and charged with trouble making and attempting to commit crime.

When the prosecuting counsel, Barrister Zaharaddeen Mustapha read the charges to him, he pleaded guilty, and the presiding Khadi, Umar Lawan Abubakar convicted him.

The accused was sentenced to one year in prison with an option of a fine of N40, 000 and 30 strokes of the cane and another one year in prison without an option of fine and 20 strokes of cane.
