“Well deserved” – Actor Femi Adebayo expresses joy as his movie ‘Jagun Jagun’ bags 7 nominations in AMAA awards

Popular Nollywood actor and film maker, Femi Adebayo, has taken to his social media page to expressed joy as his epic movie ‘Jagun Jagun (The Warrior)’ garnered a whopping seven nominations at the prestigious Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA).

The movie star shared his excitement with his industry colleagues, friends and followers via his Instagram page, sparking widespread admirations online.

‘Jagun Jagun’ film narrates the tale of a powerful warrior, Ogundiji, who grows uneasy at the rising potential of a young warrior named Gbotija, whose primary goal is to seek revenge for his father’s death. Ogundiji, a tyrant known for seizing kingdoms and installing corrupt leaders, becomes increasingly threatened by Gbotija’s arrival and ambition.

The film was directed by Adebayo Tijani and Tope Adebayo Salami and it was released on Netflix to critical acclaim. Within 48 hours of release, it began trending in the United Kingdom and seventeen other countries. It earned 2,100,000 views in its first three days, and 3,700,000 views by 20 August 2023, making it one of the top 10 most-watched non-English films globally during that period.

In the 2024 African Magic Viewers’ Choice Award (AMVCA), Femi Adebayo’s Jagun Jagun won the Best Indigenous Language Movie (West Africa), and the Best Costume Design award category.

In recent development, the movie bagged seven different nominations, marking a significant milestone in the movie industry.
