Lakurawa attack: Kebbi gov orders arrest of perpetrators of reprisal killings
Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has ordered the immediate arrest of individuals involved in a reprisal attack on a Fulani community following the Mera attack by the Lakurawa terrorist group.
During a condolence visit to Mera in Augie Local Government Area, the governor condemned the retaliatory attack, which led to the killing of six Fulani individuals.
The reprisal was reportedly targeted at Fulani suspected of involvement in the initial Mera attack, where 17 people were killed by Lakurawa terrorists.
Speaking to residents in the affected area, Governor Idris expressed strong disapproval of the retaliatory killings, saying, “I have directed the immediate arrest of those responsible for the unjust killing of innocent Fulani in the name of revenge.”
