The Kebbi State Government, in collaboration with security agencies, successfully foiled an attempted cattle rustling operation by the notorious Lakurawa bandit group in Gamuzza village, Arewa Local Government Area, and Gwado village, Bunza.

The swift intervention, which followed credible intelligence on the bandits’ activities, was confirmed in a statement released on Sunday by AbdurRahman Usman Zagga, Director of Security at the Cabinet Office, Birnin Kebbi.

According to the statement, Governor Nasir Idris directed immediate action, prompting the deployment of Nigerian Air Force units and ground troops to track and disperse the criminal elements.

The statement added that the operation reflects the Governor’s unwavering resolve to combat banditry and safeguard the lives and property of Kebbi residents.

Zagga also stated that Governor Idris has intensified efforts to enhance collaboration between security agencies and local communities, including traditional leaders, through regular security meetings to improve intelligence sharing and coordination.

“The governor remains steadfast in his commitment to addressing security challenges and providing consistent support to vulnerable communities,” Zagga said.

He also commended the proactive measures taken by security forces, which he attributed to the increased synergy fostered by the administration.
