Kano governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announces new appointments

Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced key appointments to strengthen his administration’s governance and infrastructure efforts.

A statement from the Governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Sunday, January 5, confirmed the immediate effectiveness of these appointments, highlighting the administration’s commitment to progress.

Ahmad Muhammad Speaker has been named Special Adviser on Publicity. With extensive political experience, including three terms as Dawakin Tofa Local Government Chairman and as the APC State Organizing Secretary, he brings valuable expertise to the role.

Additionally, Engr. Ahmad has been appointed Special Adviser on Works, emphasizing the administration’s focus on infrastructure development across the state.

Malam Sani Abdullahi Tofa will serve as Special Adviser on Special Duties. A retired Permanent Secretary and former Director General of the Kano State Shari’a Commission, Tofa also served as a Khadi in Kano and Abuja’s Sharia Courts.

Hon. Ibrahim Jibrin Fagge has been appointed Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, while Hajia Ladidi Ibrahim Garko will lead the Kano State Civil Service Commission. Both are former Commissioners for Finance and Tourism, respectively.

The Governor is set to preside over a swearing-in ceremony on Monday, January 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Ante-Chamber of the Kano Government House. The event will see the inauguration of seven commissioner nominees approved by the Kano State House of Assembly and the newly appointed Special Advisers.
