Independence Day: “Why is he not there?” – Many react as Apple releases 10 biggest Nigerian songs and artistes on the platform

Today, October 1st 2024 is the Nigeria 64th Independence Day and by extension giant music stream platform known as Apple decided to celebrate the country in one of the finest way.

In the post making the rounds online, Apple celebrates Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day by curating the list of the top 10 biggest Nigerian songs and artistes of all time.

In the post shared by Apple, Grammy Award winner Burna Boy leads with four songs, while Wizkid and Rema each have two. Ayra Starr and Tems complete the top ten.

Names of Burna Boy song on the list include, Last Last, Ye, On the Low and Location by Dave where the Nigerian singer was featured. The Wizkid songs on the list include “Essence” and Come Closer.

Tems song on the list is Free Mind while Ayra Starr’s song on the list is Rush. Rema songs on the list are Calm Down as well as Calm Down Remix featuring American singer Selena Gomez.

As expected, the post generated mixed reactions online as many questioned why superstar Afrobeats singer Davido is not on the list. Davido had some viral hit songs which include “If”, “Fall” and “Unavailable” among others.
