Fubara: Ijaw is only majority in Bayelsa – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has claimed that an Ijaw man wouldn’t have become governor in Rivers State without his support.

Wike said the Ijaw ethnic group doesn’t constitute the majority in any of the Niger Delta States except Bayelsa.

The FCT minister stated this on Wednesday while fielding questions from journalists at media parley.

The statement comes amid the ongoing political crisis in the Rivers State, with Wike and Governor Similayi Fubara at the center of the feud.

Wike said: “Ijaw doesn’t constitute the majority of the Niger Delta. People must speak out the truth. Heaven will not fall.
What nonsense. Everyday people will just wake up and say Ijaw this and that.

“In Akwa Ibom Ijaw can’t be governor. In Delta State, Ijaw is the minority of the minorities.

“The only place an Ijaw man can solely be the governor is in Bayelsa State, not in Edo or Rivers states.”
