Flood: Catholic bishop distributes foodstuffs to 150 Adamawa IDPs
Most Rev. Stephen Mamza, Catholic Bishop of Yola Diocese, has distributed foodstuffs to 150 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and households in Adamawa State.
Manza explained during the event at Jabbi-Lamba, Gerei LGA on Thursday that the items were procured in collaboration with the Mission Take Heart for the victims of 2024 flood and drought in the state.
He said, “September 29 every year is a day to commemorate the World Day of Refugees, Migrants and IDPs.
“This gesture is to commemorate that day. We shifted it for today to enable the support of foodstuffs from our partner Mission Take Heart to arrive.”
Mamza urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the items in order to feed their families and warned against selling them.
Mr Ignatius Vandu, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciated the gesture, saying that the material came at the right time as many are currently passing through hardship and hunger.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the foodstuffs distributed included bags of maize, rice, groundnuts and sugar, among others (NAN)
