Falz Condemns Suspension of Rivers State Governor By President Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu had declared a state of emergency in Rivers State on Tuesday evening, citing a political crisis in the state.

He also suspended Governor Siminilayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, for six months, along with all elected members of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

According to a nationwide broadcast, the president expressed deep concern over the deteriorating situation in Rivers State, accusing Governor Fubara of d¢str0ying the State House of Assembly building.

President Tinibu stated that he had evaluated the circumstances and decided to take drastic measures to restore order and stability in the state.

Effective March 18, Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) has been appointed as the Administrator to oversee the state’s administration.

The decision follows a meeting with service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa, which included key Senate leaders and House representatives.

However, the suspension of Governor Fubara has raised questions about the constitutionality of the move. According to Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution, the removal of a governor involves impeachment by the State House of Assembly, not suspension by the President.
