Fact Check: Is Puma Deal and UBA Gigs behind the trending online rivalry between Wizkid and Davido? Video

The rivalry between Popular Nigeria singer Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun professionally known as Wizkid and his colleague David Adeleke professionally known as Davido is longest rivalry in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

As of October 2024, Wizkid and Davido still engage in a fiery exchange as fans of Wizkid known as Wizkid FC and that of Davido known as 30BG are well known for dragging each other to filth.

Recently, Wizkid, the “Essence” crooner scatters the internet as he referred to his industry rival Davido as a wack, talentless and cheap artiste after the DMW boss teased fans with the release of his first single of the year at the moment Wizkid was about to drop his highly anticipated album, Morayo.

However, following this development, Wizkid has continued to drag the living daylight out of Davido, his uncle Ademola Adeleke, his father, Adedeji Adeleke and the entire 30BG crew.

However, since then Davido remained unperturbed as he refused to clap back at Wizkid rather he made it known in a tweet that he is new York City, USA engaging in a deal with big fashion brand Puma whom Wizkid used to be their brand ambassador.

However, cybernauts, strategists have started digging out Why Wizkid who hardly talks online continued to tweet against Davido on the popular microblogging platform X formerly called Twitter.

Yesterday, October 2nd 2024, an X user identified as @nelsonepega breaks the internet as he revealed how Puma dropped Wizkid for Davido . The X user claimed that Wizkid has lost his relevance in the music industry.

However, Wizkid refers to the above X user as an idiot stressing that he was the one that turned down Puma because they could no longer want to pay him as he wanted more.

Wizkid tweeted; “U idiot! I turned down Puma cos they could no longer afford to pay me cos I wanted more! Don’t need dat! Way bigger than every artiste u just mentioned! Not jealous ! love em all…With ur dirty ass shirt! Idiot!”

He added; “No ! Puma is Big brand! But the budget they had for Africa wasn’t for me! Was cool for your client tho! .”

Another X user @VillageParrot while speaking on the Puma deal said; “PUMA had Wizkid on $1m. At the expiration of his contract, he allegedly demanded $10m—PUMA refused. Then, PUMA made a turnaround, signed Davido and allegedly offered him the $10m they declined Wizkid for. Okay, the meltdown he had yesterday now makes sense.”

Explaining the tweet further, an Instagram user known as mecuryqueen wrote; “Apparently the guy is saying Wizkid is trying to raise the ceiling/ Standards for African Artists in terms of endorsements. So Davido went to collect a cheaper amount from Puma without Fact checking with his industry colleagues.. ( Like how you’re offered a job, and you gotta make enquiries about pay, so as not to over/Under sell yourself.

He then went on to mention “B” thats Burna boy. Said Burna was not considered bcos he was too expensive..
“R” Rema and Kiss Daniel (KD) were considered before Davido (D).

So basically Davido took the deal , Hence, nah Davido spoil the show for everybody as he was the Cheapest.. Case closed.”

Also, another major reason for the fight between Wizkid and Davido was the UBA gigs which took place in the USA and Spain. Wizkid is well known as the the brand ambassador of Tony Elemelu’s UBA, however, as of the moment of filling this content, Davido is the face of the bank.

Recall that in previous posts, Intel Region disclosed that Davido makes Tony Elumelu and others excited as he delivers an amazing performance at the UBA cocktail event in USA.

Billionaire Tony Elumelu arranged for Davido to fly from the USA to Spain to perform at Dupe Olusola’s 50th birthday, the Managing Director of Transcorp Group.

Twitter influencer Otunda claimed that Tony Elumelu chose Davido over Wizkid because of Wizkid’s alleged drug addiction and unreliability, stating that the “Essence” singer is not on good terms with Elumelu.

He tweeted; “Lmaooo if them born ur papa well reply me @wizkidayo I dey wait you surulere drug addict You’re so useless that Tony Elumelu flew Davido to Paris for a UBA gig and you’re their supposed ambassador. Ayo Balogun, I put it to you. You’re a mad man .”

Conclusion: According to the fact gathered above, the major reason behind the trending rivalry between Wizkid and Davido is as a result of the Puma Deal and UBA gigs.
