Mohammed Babaganaru’s resignation came on the heels of Akwa United’s disappointing 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance during a matchday 16 fixture held on Monday.

Under Babaganaru’s leadership, Akwa United has struggled significantly in the current 2024-2025 season. They have managed to secure only four victories, alongside four draws, but unfortunately, they have suffered eight defeats in their first 16 matches.

As a result, they find themselves languishing in 19th place on the league table, accumulating a mere 16 points. This dismal performance has led to increased scrutiny and pressure, ultimately prompting Babaganaru’s resignation after just one season with the club.

Meanwhile, Usman Abdallah, the technical adviser for Kano Pillars, has expressed his satisfaction regarding his team’s performance following their recent derby victory over Katsina United.

In a tense encounter during matchday 16, Kano Pillars emerged victorious with a narrow 1-0 win, thanks to a goal scored by Abba Adam at the Sani Abacha Stadium last weekend.

Abdallah was visibly emotional after the match, highlighting that his happiness stemmed not merely from the victory but from the potential he sees within his squad.

He praised the display of the younger players, emphasizing their readiness to step up when needed. “I’m full of emotions. It’s not about the victory, but when you watch the game, you can envision the future of Kano Pillars,” he stated in an interview with the club’s media team.

Abdallah believes that the young talents showcased in the match hint at a promising future for the club. Currently, Kano Pillars hold the seventh position on the league table, with a total of 22 points garnered from their 15 outings this season.
