Abia State House of Assembly has approved a budget adjustment of ₦16.14 billion for the 2024 fiscal year, backdated to take effect from October 8, 2024.
The bill, numbered HAB 28, was sponsored by Hon. Uchenna Okoro Kalu, the Majority Leader and representative of Arochukwu State Constituency. It was swiftly passed after being reviewed and approved in three readings during the same sitting.
Hon. Okoro explained that the adjustment is necessary to reallocate funds from less critical areas to more urgent needs within the state’s budget.
In his remarks, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Emeruwa, stated that the approved bill will now be referred to as the Abia State 2024 Virement Law.
