6 bandits repent, receive certificates in Yobe
No fewer than six repentant bandits and kidnappers have received certificates in Gulani Local Government Area of Yobe State.
City & Crime gathered that the repentant bandits have been terrorizing the residents of some LGAs in the state.
The council chairman, Dayyabu Ilu Njibulwa, received the six persons, who were earlier cleared by the Upper Shari’a Court in the area for renouncing banditry and kidnapping.
The occasion, which took place at the local government secretariat in Bara, was attendend by the DPO of the area, DSS and NSCDC operatives, Sharia Court judge and Chairman, Association of Village Heads in Gulani LGA.

The chairman, while addressing the repentant bandits, charged them to consider the clearance by the court as an opportunity to rebuild their lives in line with the religious and traditional norms.
Njibulwa, who charged people to accept them for reintegration into the normal day to day activities, advised those with such habit to consider renouncing their attitude for peace.
According to him, the government is ready to accept anyone who genuinely agree to renounce banditry, kidnapping, among other crimes.
City & Crime learnt that the Sharia court in the area cleared the repentant persons after presenting cogent signs of regret over their previous attitude in addition to taking an oath with the Holy Qur’an to satisfy the judge and the public of total denouncement of their attitude.
The Judge of Upper Sharia Court, Bara warned against abhorrence or any act capable of creating discomfort to the repentant persons.
One of them publicly expressed regret over their previous behaviours, pledging to work towards peace and progress of the local government and the state at large.
