25 die from Cholera outbreak in Sokoto
25 persons have reportedly died from the outbreak of cholera in Sokoto State.
This was disclosed by the state commissioner of health Hajiya Asabe Balarabe, while speaking in an interview on Monday.
She noted that the deaths were spread across 3 Council areas of the state, namely, Sokoto North, Silame, and Kware local government areas of Sokoto State, adding that 15 others are currently hospitalised and receiving treatments.
The 15 active cases according to the commissioner, were diagnosed through laboratory tests based on culture and sensitivity and confirmed to be active cases of the cholera outbreak.
She further disclosed that 1,160 people were said to have been affected by the outbreak and 25 of the Victims have already succumbed to the disease.
She stated, “The stated rescue teams are working in collaboration with the state government to manage and forestall further spread of the dreaded disease.
“The state government in its response to the outbreak direct immediate purchase and distribution of drugs free of charge to 18 local governments areas as intervention to curtail the continue spread of the disease.”
The cholera disease which is also known as Gastroenteritis, is a dangerous one that should be treated immediately discovered to prevent death.
