The Federal Government of Nigeria has allocated ₦6.36 billion in the proposed 2025 budget for the refurbishment and rehabilitation of residential accommodations for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, and their aides.

Details in the 2025 Appropriation Bill submitted to the National Assembly reveal that ₦5.49 billion is earmarked for the annual upkeep of the Presidential Villa, ₦765 million for renovating the Vice President’s residence and guest house, and ₦6.39 million for refurbishing the President’s quarters at the State House.

Renovation of the security quarters, auditorium, gymnasium, and aide residences is estimated at ₦49 million, while an additional ₦51 million is designated for upgrades to Prescott Barracks, the officers’ mess, and the signal office in Asokoro, Abuja.

The budget also includes ₦87 million for honorarium and sitting allowances for the President and Vice President and ₦127 million for SUVs. Another ₦3.66 billion is allocated for operational vehicles for the State House, with ₦1.09 billion for replacing SUV vehicles.

For the State House Lagos Liaison Office, ₦14.72 million is budgeted for routine maintenance, including Dodan Barracks and the Vice President’s guest houses in Ikoyi. Additionally, ₦140.10 million is allocated for completing renovations and furnishing the State House annexe at Dodan Barracks.

The Federal Government also plans to spend ₦1.83 billion on converting properties forfeited to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) into quarters for the State House. Notably, the EFCC recently announced the recovery of a major estate in the Lokogoma District of Abuja.

Spanning 150,500 square meters, the estate includes 753 duplexes and residential units, making it the commission’s largest asset recovery since its inception in 2003. This property was forfeited on December 2, 2024, following a ruling by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzie.
